Chetan Bhagat

Chetan Bhagat is coming with his fourth novel this Diwali season and it's called "2 states - the story of my marriage".
Recently, I happened to come across couple of his interviews on TV and it was good to know little more about him. This IIT-D + IIM-A passout has left his job in banking and is now settled in Mumbai focusing on writing novels and newspaper columns!

The biggest-selling english author in Indian history which he is; he is also focusing on writing movie-scripts now. Not a surprising decision by him given the fact that all his three novels published yet have found their fate in some released or yet-to-be-released movie. I am particularly impressed with the way he leveraged the publicity he got through his first few novels. He talks about the two aspects of his personality: Chetan - the entertainer and Chetan - the reformer. No doubt about his entertainment value; it is quite evident from his new novels that he wants to have some say on few social issues too. Not just that, he is taking up more social/political issues now through his various newspaper articles and by participating in many socially relevant discussions and conferences.

All in all, he is emerging on the scenes pretty strongly and is gradually becoming a role model for Indian youth. I am all set to watch his stints in writing, scripting and social-reforming. The fact that he left a hefty-salary job must be motivating him enough for all these.
